Rulership is a winner of five Group or Graded races including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin by decisive three and three quarter lengths, beating Thumbs Up and Treasure Beach.
He is by Japanese Derby winner and Japanese Champion Sire King Kamehameha and out of Horse of the Year in Japan Air Groove. In addition to that, his half-sister Admire Groove was crowned Best Older Mare in Japan in 2004 and is the dam of the Japanese Derby victor Duramente.
Rulership entered stud in Japan in 2013. His first crop hit the track in 2016.
In 2017 his first crop colt Kiseki gained his first top-flight victory in the Grade 1 Kikuka Sho (Japanese St. Leger) and became the first Grade 1 winner for his sire.
Among his other best progeny are Danburite, who won the 2018 Grade 2 American Jockey Club Cup and finished 3rd in the 2017 Grade 1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas); Tetradrachm, who took the 2018 Grade 3 Queen Cup; Sans Rival, who finished 2nd in the 2018 Grade 1 Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas); and Lily Noble, who finished 2nd in the 2018 Grade 1 Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks).
He was crowned Japanese Champion Freshman Sire in 2016.
