Daiwa Major was born in 2001. He is by Sunday Silence out of Scarlet Bouquet by Northern Taste.
Daiwa Major was awarded Best Sprinter or Miler in Japan in 2006 and 2007. He excelled at the distances of 1600m to 2000m and won five Grade 1 (Jpn1) races, including the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and the Grade 1 Mile Championship (twice).
Daiwa Major entered stud in Japan in 2008. In 2016, Major Emblem, the 2015 Best Two-Year-Old Filly in Japan, posted a wire-to-wire victory against colts in the Grade 1 NHK Mile Cup and became only the fourth female runner to capture the race. In 2017, Reine Minoru won the Grade 1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) and took her second graded title following the Grade 3 Kokura Nisai Stakes which she won as a two-year-old against colts.
Among his other best progeny are NHK Mile Cup winner Curren Black Hill and Takamatsunomiya Kinen winner Copano Richard.
